Got h2o???

Have you been missing the more mild summer climate we had been accustomed to here in the Pacific Northwest? Well so have our plants! Just like us they need additional water to get through these hot summer months! It’s best to water your lovely green babies before the sun is fully up, so early morning or late evening watering is best! You may also want to toss some compost on top of your beds to help that water get to your plant’s roots rather than just seeping on through deep into the ground.

It is also time to start dead-heading your flowering perennials so you can enjoy a second bloom. If you remove the blooms that are past their prime your plant can put its energy into making you new beauty to admire! You may even want to start thinking ahead to next year and start planting some flowering perennial seeds, one can never have too many flowering plants in their midst!

In mid to late August you can start looking towards Fall and get your fall veggies, snaps peas, carrots, beets, greens and of course GARLIC in the ground! Feel free to start with either seeds or actual plant starts- the seeds will take a little longer to yield and you must remember to diligently water these during the summer months or neither will successfully germinate.

Remember Fall is just around the corner so make sure you are enjoying all the nature that you helped to create!
